DL's should (untested) work as any other html tag.
If you've tries this and had a problem -- it is easier to just post the php and template code in order to get useful help.
The generalized form of TBS block...
<tag_name> ... [BlockName;block=tag_name;params] ...</tag_name>

Should cover any tag def'n. I've even used home-made tags!
