tell what you think about the new flat forum

Hello,

The new flat forum is now available. Some enhancements will come soon.
The forum still have HTML popup, and no acount.
It had been made flat in order to be indexed by Google and aslo because I've been converted to no-frame sites.

Feel free to post some comments here.

Re: tell what you think about the new flat forum

i feel naked without the menu which used to contain the order of all answers of the message

i know it still exists but now it is a bit too "volatile" for me (don't know if i'll be understood)

but if it allows you to index the pages with Google then i'll manage with it

Re: tell what you think about the new flat forum

This no-frames is nice, very nice.
The auto-sliding block in the left COL is unnecessary IMNHO.
Does it have anay purpose that I cannot see and is not already exist in the main right COL?
Does it affect performance?

Re: tell what you think about the new flat forum

Hello,

The goal of the sliding menu on the left is to :
- Fasty see the number of messages and who participated to the thread.
- See the thread's tree of replies (in this forum, replies are positioned under they corresponding message instead of the bottom of all messages, so there is a tree structure).
- Faslty go to a wanted message.

Google Groupes has the same kind of tree to display a Usenet thread.
Example :
http://groups.google.com/group/php.general/browse_frm/thread/f717a8da939bce06/50831d21794115e3
By the way, you can notice that Google has choosen to use frames in this case, which is very rare! There, the frame enables you keep having the thread's tree when scrolling down to bottom messages.

This is someting I don't like in common Web Forum : you loose the thread's tree. According to me, it is useful. A agree, it can become heavy if you have hundreds of messages in the thread.
